 William Harter Wood

William Harter Wood was born in Delphi, Indiana, July 24, 1865. He was the son of Charles A. and Delia Harter Wood. He was one of four children. When he was a boy he worked in his fathers paper mill. In his early life, circa 1900, he was connected to the Delphi Lime Kilns. A life long member of the Baptist Church he was a well-thought-of member of the community. Coming from one of Delphi's prominent pioneer families he married Opal Cartwright in 1900. The Cartwrights were also one of the most prominent families of Delphi. Together William and Opal had three children, Charles, Robert and John. Following his retirement he had taken much interest in raising small fruits and flowers at his home in South Delphi.

In 1952 he passed away in his sleep at St. Elizabeth hospital at the age of 86.
